Thoughts about writing

Unless you're an educator, I couldn't care less if you have a college degree in a creative field.

My mentor had a degree in biology; he never took a single class on how to write or think creatively. He just had it. Great ideas. Wit. A knack for persuasion. Everything he wrote made you feel something.

While I have a college degree in journalism, my best work is due to my insatiable curiosity and desire to share a story. 

A degree never comes into play. 

The best writers I've known are about great ideas far more than technical skill. A story just throbs in their brain and roars out like a raging wildfire. 

Give me that. any day.
